Best In Ear Monitors for Singing and Vocals!
What is the best in ear monitor for singing and vocals? Singers need a slight upper end boost so vocals shine, or a quick upper end that lets singing jump out of the mix. Vocalists have lots of options but we recommend monitors that are clear and dynamic like the RSM or Spire.
The RSM is a customer favorite because it works for so many instruments. On vocals, you get a straightforward presentation so you hear your voice without any sonic alterations. It is what we call balanced and accurate, meaning it lets you hear your singing without added color. The low end is quick and punchy so kick and bass are present in your mix but do not overwhelm it or take the focus off your singing.

What is the best in-ear monitor for singers and vocalists? Singers need a model that will let their vocals jump out of the mix, floating on top of the music so that they can hear clearly. There are a lot of really great options and it largely comes down to preference.
Generally, we recommend an IEM that is slightly contoured, or at least not TOO accurate. A contour or shape will give you a bit of a boost in the vocal range so that you can hear your voice clearly. Too much bass in the low end can make your vocals less pronounced. Our most effective models for vocalists are the ST3, RSM, Spire, Electo and ESM.
Every model in our “recommended in-ear monitors for vocals” list above will get you where you need to go. Alclair offers different models at different price points so you can perform your best even if you don’t have a large budget. So what makes the difference between models? Really it comes down to clarity, headroom, and power. To get more headroom, you need to have bigger or more drivers stacked together. This is not as important for singers. To get more clarity you need more drivers that are each responsible for their own part of the sound. For vocals, the number of drivers is less important than the fact that they are tuned to let your vocal sit on top. But in general, when you have dedicated drivers for each sound range you can get more clarity. To get more power, well, you just need more drivers. Power is not as important to the vocalist either. Vocalists have lots of options which can make it tough. In general, the Dual XB, Tour, RSM, and Spire are the most popular vocal models.
