Lester Estelle is one of the most respected drummers working today. His credits span some of the biggest names in music — Kelly Clarkson, Big & Rich, Pillar — and he has been part of the Alclair family for over a decade, using our monitors on stage, in the studio, and (his words) in the gym.
We sat down with Lester to hear about his experience and why he keeps coming back.
Lester Estelle on His Alclair Monitors
When we asked Lester about what model he uses and what he loves about it, he did not hesitate:
I have a few different models but my absolute favs have been the RSM Quads. They are extremely balanced across all frequencies and somehow the image sounds wider to me which helps my in-ear mixes.
Lester Estelle
For a drummer and MD who lives and dies by mix clarity, that wider image is no small thing. Lester needs to hear every element of a production. Not just the kick and snare, but the full picture. The RSM Quad Driver was built for exactly that: punchy low end, a wide and accurate soundstage, and enough clarity to make mix decisions in real time.
Speed and Accuracy in the Mix
I’ve used Alclair since 2014 and it’s given me a great reference for dialing in my mixes quicker than other companies I’ve used in the past.
Lester Estelle
That is the goal every time, getting out of the way so the music can happen. When your monitor gives you an honest, dependable reference, you spend less time chasing the mix and more time playing.
Why Lester Stays With Alclair
Talk to anyone working at Alclair. Aside from me loving how they sound, a big part of why I still use them is because of the relationships I’ve built with the people there.
Lester Estelle
That is what we are here for. A great product backed by people who genuinely care about the outcome for Lester and every musician in the Alclair family.
What Drummers Need in an IEM
Lester’s experience points to a truth that comes up with every drummer we work with: the right IEM for a drummer is not just about driver count — it is about headroom and accuracy in equal measure. You need a monitor that can handle the kick and bass without smearing the low end, while keeping the top end clear enough to hear every detail of the kit.
